Frequently Asked Questions

How does TripTrail automatically track my trips?

TripTrail uses your device's location data to detect significant changes in your whereabouts. This allows the app to automatically record and display the countries you visit on your travel profile.

Is my location data private?

Yes, your location data is used solely to enhance your travel experience by automatically updating your trip information. It is not shared with third parties and will only be used on your device.

What if I grant limited access to my photos?

If you choose limited access, you can manually select additional photos for TripTrail to scan. You will be able to select more photos. If you want to provide access to your whole photo library, you can change the access permission in the iOS settings.

How does the Gallery Scanner protect my privacy?

TripTrail’s Gallery Scanner processes your photos entirely on your device. It extracts location metadata from your images solely to update your travel profile—no photos or location data are uploaded to any external servers.

If you grant limited access to your photo library, only the photos you select will be scanned, ensuring that your personal information remains private. All data is stored locally and is never shared without your explicit consent.

How does TripTrail protect my privacy when I add a country visit?

TripTrail processes all location and travel data entirely on your device. When you add a country visit, the app uses the device’s built-in location services to determine your current country without transmitting any personal data to external servers.

How do I edit or remove entries from my timeline?

To edit or delete a visit entry on your timeline, simply tap on the entry you want to modify. Each entry displays an editing icon (a pencil overlay) to indicate that it can be edited.

When you tap an entry, an editing sheet appears where you can update details such as the country, start date, and end date, or choose to remove the entry entirely. Once you make your changes, they are automatically saved and your timeline updates to reflect the changes.

This intuitive process allows you to easily manage your travel history and ensure your timeline always shows accurate information.

How can I add the TripTrail widget?

On your iPhone, long-press the home screen, tap the '+' icon, and search for "TripTrail". Then add the widget to your home screen for quick access to your travel stats.
